Does God Keep His Promises?

Updated: May 22, 2020

Hello Commissioners! I pray that you all are well and walking in your purpose. As for me, I have spent my Sunday meal prepping for the week and studying. I’ve been trying to be more disciplined lately so I’ve been intentional about how I spend my days. Although I should be asleep right now, I just felt the need to write something to encourage you all:-) Tonight, I want to dedicate this post to those of you who are waiting on a promise from God and may be growing weary that it won’t ever happen or that his delay is a denial. Maybe what you’re waiting on is a marriage, a degree, a green light to pursue a certain career, a financial breakthrough, a healing, or maybe you’re just waiting on God to give you directions on where to move to next. Whatever it is, big or small, if God promised it, wait for it. In Hebrews 10:23, it reads, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful”. That’s it guys, HE who promised it, is faithful. This means that you can trust him. He won’t cheat you out of the promises he made to you but like every promise, there are often conditions tied to it. Here are some examples:

Matthew 7:7

Promise: It will be given you

Condition: If you ask

Promise: You will find

Condition: If you seek

Promise: It will be opened to you

Condition: If you knock

Matthew 24:45-47

Promise: God will make a person ruler over all that is His (His possessions).

Condition: If that person is faithful and wise in charge of the “little things”.

John 3:16

Promise: You will have eternal life

Condition: To whosoever will believe that God sent His only begotten son to die in our place as a sin offering.

Ok...Ok... you get the point😃 This is not to say that God is somehow making us “work” in order to receive the promise but because he is such a good father, he will not just give us things that we are not ready for. We have to be mature and in a position to receive it so that we don’t misuse or abuse the promise. In 1 Corinthians 3:2, it states, “I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. Just like an earthly (good) father would not give their infant child the keys to a car, or a pet snake, the same can be said with our heavenly father. He knows what’s best for us and he will give us these things when we are fully prepared and ready to receive them. If we’re honest, some of us want things that we are not financilaly, spiritually, or emotionally ready for. Example: We are battling debt but we want a house, have trust issues but we want marriage, are impatient but we want children, are always late to work but want a promotion etc... Why would God in his infinite wisdom give us these things when he knows we are not ready?

What is most important to God is that we seek first his kingdom and these things that we want and desire will be added unto us -Matthew 6:33. The benefits of seeking God is that we gain wisdom along the way. We learn how to pray his will instead of ours, we learn discipline, and self control. It is then, that we are truly ready to receive God’s best for us.

Don’t merely ask for things to please your flesh—that can cause pride and arrogance. Check your motives! The Bible instructs us the that the posture of our hearts should be towards the things that bring him glory. James 4:2-3 states, “You want things, but you cannot have them, so you are ready to kill; you strongly desire things, but you cannot get them, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it. And when you ask, you do not receive it, because your motives are bad; you ask for things to use for your own pleasures.”

So to answer the question, does God keep his promises? ABSOLUTELY! I would not be here if he didn’t❤️ But always remember, it is better to have Jesus than silver or gold or anything in this world for that matter. All of these things are temporary and will soon pass away, but God’s word will never pass away —Matthew 24:35

MEMORY VERSE: “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Be blessed! Stay in the word of God and allow it to transform you while you wait❤️

Wheeeeew when I tell you this was RIGHT.ON.TIME. This was right on time; God will use people in your weakest moments to remind you of what he has been saying when you refuse to remember yourself and trust me I needed this reminder! I also needed this boost. I’m waiting and dwelling instead of going into action. Thank you so much for this kick in the pants and word of encouragement 🥰
