GOOD NEWS CAN'T WAIT

Updated: May 22, 2020

First and foremost, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who is reading this blog. You did not just stumble upon this blog, it was purposed and planned for you to be here on this site. I pray that your day was blessed. Now sit back, relax, and follow me through this journey of living out my faith--boldly and unapologetically. I am sharing the good news of Jesus because he is the BOMB.COM. If you don't know him, I pray that you open up your heart to him because he LOVES YOU soooo much:) Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing." If you have a relationship with him but have been following your own path, I pray that you would come back to him and discover your purpose again. Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

When you find something good, you don't keep it to yourself, you tell everyone you know. Those who know me know that I like to shop. And if there's a sale going on somewhere, I am telling my friends so that they too can partake and take advantage. In the same way that I encourage my friends to go and buy those sale items, it's in the same way that I share the good news of the gospel to them. Living for God does not have to be complicated but it will require you to be separate(Set apart), not just in the crowd, but the leader of it. As I began to read my newest bible plan, (trying to read the Bible in a year, pray for me!:) God began to speak to me through the book of Luke. Zechariah and Elizabeth (Mary's cousin), was the father and mother of John the Baptist (pretty cool guy, but talk about different!) The Bible talks about his clothes being made of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey (Matthew 3:4) READ ALL ABOUT IT!

The angel of the Lord instructed his parents not to give him any wine. (Luke 1:12-15) I was taken aback by that because Jesus' first miracle was at the wedding in Cana where he turned water into wine, so surely drinking wine is not a sin and yet, John was not permitted to have it. I was quickly reminded of 1 Corinthians 10:23, which states, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for me. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. John was not like eveyone else, even before he was born, God had chosen him and set him apart. He was a leader even before he was even conceived. It led me to understand what it truly means to be set apart. Some of us wrestle with our calling (what God created us to do) because we truly don't understand the magnitude of what he is calling us to do nor can we comprehend how blessed we are to even be chosen to fulfill God’s will on this earth. What would've happened if Mary did not accept God's will of being the vessel that God chose to bring Jesus into this world? What if the prophets and disciples of the Bible disobeyed God and did not do as God instructed? What would that have meant for us?

John's role was pivotal in preparing the way for Jesus--he even had the great honor and privilege to baptize Jesus! This all took place because he was obedient to his calling. How many of us are missing out on truly experiencing the goodness of God that comes though obedience because we are not in position to walk in our purpose? I will leave you all with this quote from Dr. Myles Munroe “When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.” I pray you all find your purpose. Always remember this, Jesus loves you!
